What to Expect for Paris Fashion Week SS27

The long awaited Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring and Summer 2027 is around the corner on September 28 to October 6, 2026. What can we expect in this one week of fashion frenzy?
With 68 shows and 33 presentations in this one week, two major debuts are confirmed: Drew Henry at Courrèges on September 30th and Kai Nesselrath at Carven on October 1st, while Valentino, Maison Margiela, Sacai, Ester Manas, Christopher Esber and Casablanca return to spice up the line up.
For our fashion lovers, we can’t forget high fashion lines from luxury houses like Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Tom Ford, and more.
On the rise, we have Jacquemus, Marine Serre, Acne Studios, and more.
WHAT IS THE SCOPE WATCHING FOR?
From glassy-dewy skin to full maximalist looks, we’re keeping an eye on the death of the clean-girl aesthetic. Could we potentially see fashion moving from controlled minimalism toward individuality?
Drawing from New York Fashion Week 2027, which happened on September 10 to September 15, 2026, we saw a strong appearance on two sides of the spectrum: Maximalist and minimalist. We saw deer print tops, plaid and patterns, a pop of color, and structured minimalism. We caught a glimpse of a solid strappy-minimalist dress and added pizzazz of neon colors, ruffle details, animal prints, and feathers and fur. Not in the way you imagine - not overbearing but elegant that any of us can spice our outfits up.
We’re watching how designers are showing femininity. Not girly pop colors, bows, and gems - whimsy maxing must be left to Instagram, not the runway. But we wouldn’t be surprised to see it if it comes up.
We’re talking about lace, corsets, shoulder structure, sheer fabrics, lingerie, and mens-wear tailoring. As an owner of an oversized blazer, it has grown on me. I would adore a move away from oversized blazers, and a fresh twist on this garment.
IS QUIET LUXURY ACTUALLY DYING OR EVOLVING?
Seeing how NYFW27 took off, we saw Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2027 look worn by Noor Elliott that could have been settled to be a fully brown solid dress, but no. We saw neon colors underscore a simple colored, mid sleeve length, reddish-brown dress. An elegant dress gained visual identity- a sense of attitude.
Another example was Kallmeyer’s post up in cobalt blue look, built around volume, draping, and elevated simplicity. A draped high neck over a flowy-ankle length accordion trouser, almost skirt like, that showed up for modern sophistication.
We’re watching two things: color and proportion. We’re tracking simple color patterns and pairing. Cobalt blue and metallic silver, turquoise and magenta, and intertwining with the neutrals in quiet luxury wear.
Proportions are almost the invisible rules some will say about fashion, such as baggy on baggy is illegal - but according to Kallmeyer, it can still be pulled off. Could baggy on baggy come to fruition at PFWSS27? How far could it go?
DREW HENRY'S COURRÈGES DEBUT
How do you take over a house with one of fashion's most recognizable visual languages without turning it into either a museum or something unrecognizable?
Nicolas Di Felice's Courrèges PFWSS26 Blinded by the Sun collection show us beige, turquoise, teals, navy, dark purples, with sheer, asymmetric cuttings, minis, monochrome, and minimal styling. Structured style, soft yet bold, and slightly futuristic but fluctuated with temperature. It paid homage to original André Courrèges in the 1960s with geometric designs, mini A lines, color blocking, with futuristic touch. The Original Courrèges wasn't merely “futuristic”, but remarkably clean, aesthetic, and proportional, rather than piling decoration onto the clothes.
It all comes down to this: What will Henry keep, reject, and/or reinvent for SS2027?
Stay tuned to find out as Courrèges Spring/Summer 2027 runway show happens Wednesday, September 30, 2026 10:30AM in Paris.
MAGNIFYING GLASSES FOR ALL THINGS BEAUTY
In PFW last year, the abundance of “makeup disappearing into you” was a main course. This is differentiated from clean girl and no-makeup makeup looks. This was luminous skin, subtle lips, simple neutral eyes with slight sheen, and minimal obvious color.
We could potentially move away from blush placed higher than the cheek bones for a snatched and lifted look. Zendaya’s captivating sunkissed look at The Odyssey, presented flushed, rosy, natural blush. Not unnatural pink and 15 step blush placement. A shift in placement has moved to the center of the cheek- as if your aunty has pinched your full cheeks red. And we’re here for it. Shout out to all aunties.
With UFO sightings continuing to capture the cultural imagination, fashion seems to be looking skyward, with metallics, glitters, and otherworldly finishes moving to the forefront. We predict these looks to show up at PFWSS27, in one shape or another. We could see mint green with mahogany red liner and mascara or holographic eyes and metallic lips.
Looking back at what has been done, what we’re moving away from, what’s being repeated and elevated, are all forms of trends and patterns. Fashion rarely changes all at once. It shifts in hemlines, color, proportion, a smudged eye or an unexpected shoe before the larger picture comes into focus. SS27 may give us that picture, but until then, Paris is under The Scope.
